A unique The Family Casks bottling from Speyside distillery Glenfarclas. In 1985 the single malt whisky went into the cask, a refill sherry cask, and about 36 years later in 2022 it was bottled at a cask strength of 41.9% in an edition of 266 bottles.
Critic tasting note: "A refill sherry hoggie has given a classic walnut color, and indeed notes of that nut as well. Here’s Glenfarclas at its most dense, with savory, sun-dried tomato-like edges and sandalwood. The mouth is elegant with a little heat, the sherry giving roasted almond, sweet plump dried fruits, and dried flowers. Water brings out lightly gripping tannins (but, again, not aggressively) and good layering. Similar to the 87. £285" - 88/100, Whisky Advocate
