Style: Bordeaux Blend Red Wine Varietal: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec Country: New Zealand Region: Gimblett Gravels Vintage: 2015 Bottle Size: 750ml ABV: 13 - 14.1%
The Te Kahu Merlot Blend, named 'the cloak' in te reo Maori for the mists that surround Giants Winery in the Tukituki Valley, is an excellent value example of the class and refinement of Bordeaux blends from Hawke's Bay. This is a great value entry point into the benchmark Merlot/Cabernet wines from Craggy Range. Sourced from the iconic Gimblett Gravels vineyard in Hawkes Bay, this deep crimson blend consists of predominantly Merlot, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. This release is a well-structured wine with layers of blackberry, cedar, and spice, classic Hawke's Bay aromas of cassis, black olive, dried tobacco, and roasted hazelnut. It's a belting little BDX blend for the dollars asked. Enjoy now or cellar for up to 10 years. It's Craggy Range 101 done to a 'T'.
