The Gosling Shiraz originates from select blocks within our Estate vineyards situated at Neldner Road and Roennfeldt Road in Marananga, Barossa Valley. Hand-picked and meticulously processed, the Shiraz undergoes fermentation in 5-tonne open top fermenters with daily pump-overs, ensuring optimal extraction of color, flavor, and tannin. After fermentation, the wine ages in seasoned French oak barriques for 18 months, resulting in a harmonious blend. This Shiraz presents a deep violet hue with ruby highlights. Its aromatic profile is intense, offering notes of blackberry, dark plum, and liquorice, with subtle hints of clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, and dark chocolate. On the palate, it delivers a rich and textured experience, showcasing flavors of blackcurrant, boysenberry, black olive tapenade, and plum sauce, complemented by savory tones of black pepper and cured meats. A fine acid line and dusty cedar oak tannins provide structure and focus, promising a wine that will evolve gracefully with age, rewarding patient cellaring for a decade or more.
