Block 8, an extension of the slope from Block 5, offers increased fruit depth and power. This close-planted site (11,300 to 22,600 vines per hectare) benefits from multiple clones and intensive farming. Several wines have marked our Pinot Noir journey, including the 1994 Original Vineyard and the 1997 Block 5, both still delightful today. The 2019 Block 8 joins this distinguished group and is a personal favorite, showcasing a special site in an exceptional season. It reflects three decades of experience with this land and variety, featuring deep red and dark fruits, autumnal notes, root vegetable earthiness, and dried flowers. The palate is full and lavish, creamy and round, then intense, driven, and long. It will improve for another five years and remain delicious for many years beyond.
