The 2019 Pommard Village is terrific, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cherries, raspberries, rose petals and sweet spices. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and chalky, it’s the most tightly wound, incisive communal appellation in the cellar, concluding with a long, saline finish. As usual, it mostly derives from the cool, northeasterly exposures of the windylieu-ditof Valmuriens, where the soils are rich in active calcium. Forget it for a decade and then reap the rewards.
