Description
This wine hails exclusively from the Block 2 vineyard at our Roennfeldt Road estate, fondly dubbed the Goose Yard Block. Hand-picked and fermented with wild yeast in open top fermenters, it's then basket pressed and aged in a mix of new (66%) and two-year-old (34%) French oak barriques for 20 months. In the glass, it reveals a deep black core with a garnet rim. The nose is intense, offering aromas of dark chocolate, plums, cherry liqueur, and dried cranberries, alongside hints of star anise, cinnamon, and spicy cedar oak. On the palate, enjoy flavors of blackberries, black currants, and black olives, intertwined with savory notes of leather, allspice, and cigar box. Chewy tannins and a fine acid line provide balance, promising a wine of impressive proportions that will mature beautifully over 10 years or more.
