A more restrained style, Yeringberg Chardonnay has some minerally notes overlayed with subtle hints of fermentation in French oak barrels. Not an overt wine, yet possessed of impressive intensity. It should develop a soft and smooth maturity after several years in the cellar.
It’s interesting to note, though maybe not particularly noteworthy these days, that three of the (blue chip) treasures of the Yarra Valley â€?Wantirna Estate, Yeringberg, and Yarra Yering â€?are made by women. Stonefruit, biscuit, nuts, honey, grapefruit. Intense and firm acidity through bold flavour of stonefruit and grilled nuts, perhaps some aniseed, tang and zest of citrus, and a long perfumed finish of excellent length. Yum. Minimal artifice and loads of flavour. Excellent. Drink 2021 - 2027. 94 Points Gary Walsh - The Wine Front (November 2021)
Where to start? There's a lot of flavour and depth here. It's not too big, although full of stone fruits and citrus, candied and fresh, with some spicy grilled nuts and a creamy lusciousness. Savouriness, too, with oak neatly in place. The overall impression is a stylish wine. Drink by 2030. 95 Points Jane Faulkner - James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion (February 2021)
