From vintage 2021 Moonlight Race Pinot Noir comprises three sites that we farm ourselves: our estate vineyards Burn Cottage Vineyard in Lowburn, and Sauvage Vineyard in Bannockburn, along with the Luna vineyard in Bannockburn. The blend of these three special sites produces our vibrant expression of classic Central Otago with concentrated dark and red berry fruit flavours with a supple texture and fine tannins. Whilst it’s approachable now, there is cellaring potential of 7-8 years. (Bottled Under Screwcap). 95 Points - Bob Campbell MW & 95 Points James Suckling
2014 was the first vintage of the Moonlight Race. It was a welcome addition offering a regional blend with the same ideology as the older sibling and hit the market with glowing reviews. In 2018 the wine reached new heights as the blend came entirely from estate-owned vines following the family’s acquisition of the Sauvage Vineyard in Bannockburn. The site, planted to five Pinot Noir clones in 1999 is situated on Felton Road and produces a highly sought-after, low-production single-vineyard wine.

Winemaker tasting note
Bright cherry and plum notes complement spice, pepper and savoury earthy complexity. Layered and expressive, there is a core of supple fruit and fine textural tannins extending through the palate. Whilst approachable now, expected cellaring potential is up to 7 years.
