The Barossa is renowned as the heart of Shiraz in Australia, producing many of the country's most celebrated Shiraz wines. Recently, Fraser McKinley has been making a name for himself in this region with his unique approach to crafting pure and balanced wines. Formerly associated with the Standish Wine Company and Torbreck Vintners, Fraser launched a new venture in 2006—a boutique winery named Sami-Odi. Here, he produces limited quantities of top-tier Syrah (not Shiraz). Instead of making typical Barossa wines, he meticulously selects plots from the valley’s best vineyards, vinifying them separately to create a cuvée that highlights their collective strengths.
