THE PARINGA The name "The Paringadenotes the single vineyard origin of this wine. Lindsay McCall planted the first vines on the Paringa Estate vineyard in 1985, with ten acres being under vine by 1990. Fruit of distinction is born from a combination of red volcanic (Ferrasol) soil, a north facing aspect and altitude of 146m on Paringa Road, Red Hill South.
At the Paringa Estate Vineyard, Pinot Noir is represented by three clones across three blocks; an acre of MV6, an acre of G5V15 and 0.69 acres of D2V5.
VINTAGE 2020 Warm and dry conditions through flowering ensured good berry set. Average temperatures during February / March provided long and even ripening and allowed for fruit to be picked at optimal maturity.
WINEMAKING Handpicked fruit was de-stemmed (100%) and cold soaked for 4 days before yeast inoculation. The wine spent a total of 14 days on skins in open fermenters with gentle plunging. Post fermentation the wine was matured in French oak barrels for 10 months.
TASTING NOTES The nose combines elegance, depth and power whilst showing raspberry, sour cherry and black fruit with supporting spice. The focused palate shows wonderful fruit with fine tannins and remarkable length
